Adebiyi (Biyi) Olagbami was appointed Executive Director, Risk Management, First Bank of Nigeria Limited in 2025. He brings to the Executive Management of FirstBank over three decades of extensive experience in Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Compliance, and Strategic Business Transformation across leading Financial Institutions within and outside Nigeria.

Before joining FirstBank, he held senior leadership roles with responsibility for enterprise-wide risk management, credit administration, operational risk, and compliance oversight across multiple markets in Africa. In these roles, he led the development and implementation of robust governance frameworks, risk control systems, and business continuity structures that enhanced institutional resilience and performance.

Biyi has demonstrated exceptional leadership in strengthening risk culture, embedding ethical governance practices, and supporting sustainable business growth. His experience spans credit and market risk management, environmental and social risk, regulatory compliance, and business transformation.

He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona, Spain, and both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Biyi is a Fellow of the Chartered Risk Management Institute, Nigeria (FCRM), a Fellow and Director of the Compliance Institute, Nigeria (FCIN), an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB), and a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration (FICA). He is passionate about governance excellence, ethical leadership, and mentoring the next generation of professionals in the financial services industry.

He enjoys jogging, music and travelling, and is happily married with children.
